(31) #13 Valerie Von Puffmaize (popcorn) Mon, Sep 30, 1991 (21:23). 69 lines. hm... lessee how much of the meeting i can remember. (other folks who were there -- please enter more info wherever i'm leaving holes!) present at the meeting: glenda andre' (glenda), steve andre' (steve), misti anslin (mta), chris gooseman (goose), valerie mates (popcorn), john remmers (remmers), mary remmers (chelsea), dan romanchik (danr), mike smerza (morel), marc unangst (mju), and marcus watts (mdw). With a brief guest appearance from Sean Mahaney (ragnar) and Jodi Seifferlein (princess). we talked about fixing tty00. john will probably pick up the modem on monday, and mary will try to exchange it on tuesday. we don't know if the modems are still under warrantee. we can look this up, or the store will certainly tell us if the modem's aren't warranteed anymore. the state wants grex to file an annual report. one of the things they want to know is who is the president of grex. we talked about several interesting candidates to be temporary president until members start voting on things, once the three month vote moratorium is up, but finally we decided to write a letter to the state asking for an extension for filling out the form, since we haven't elected a president yet. the form is due on october 1. steve will write and mail the letter to the state. finances: valerie and tom brought grex's books up to date last monday. valerie needs to talk to tom to figure out one or two other things, and then she'll post the information. in a nutshell, there are about 20 grex members (counting founders). grex owes valerie about $200 or $300. we should emphasize the $6/month option more loudly; some people are reading "$60/year or $6/month" as "send us $60/year unless you're really broke, in which case send in $6/month". really, both options are equally good and members and potential members are strongly encouraged to choose whichever sized payment they're most comfortable with. we need to replace the disk controller that we burned out in marcus's sun when he was testing the other disk controller before installing it in grex. sean is sending us two disk controllers, one for Grex and one for marcus's computer. they're $90 each; we will pay him back right away. (by the way - the baby is due any time now!) everybody please advertise grex! someone (i forget who) is going to look into printing up some cards with grex's name and phone number, to hand out at the JCC sale. i put an ad in the credit union newsletter, and i'm planning to photocopy some tear-off cards with grex's phone number, to hang up on the "for sale" boards at meijer's and kroger's. i'll try to put an ad into the people's food coop newsletter, too. do we have an ad on Usenet? where else should we advertise? we talked about moving grex to another location. 24-hour access is very important, for security and for hardware maintenance and upgrades. maybe we can find some cheap office space, or rent some space in somebody's office or basement. we'd definitely need a contract with whoever's house or business it is. but, it'd cost $700 to move grex, so this isn't anything in the immediate future anyway. we talked about the password problem. staff handled this poorly. we feel dumb. but we learned from it. to pick up the pieces and move forward, we wrote an apology, which misti will post in the co-op conference. and we'll try to behave better in the future. Also, we'll post an item with a set of guidelines for what to do if you think you may have a security problem with your account. chris gooseman gave us three PC ethernet cards. thanks Chris!! does anybody remember where the thank you item is? we should update that to include more recent donations. How zat? please chime in with whatever parts of the meeting i forgot to include! ----------
